Answers to Common Failures for Harman Pellet Stove( Reasons & Easy Solutions)
Oct 17,2022 | YAOAWE
The Harman pellet stove is a type of wood stove that burns compressed wooden pellets to provide warmth for a room.
But it can occasionally break down, especially in the winter, so we're going to explore the possible breakdowns, causes and simple solutions to keep your family safe and warm with Harman pellet stoves today.
Harman Pellet Stove Will Not Light
- Low Air Draft: If ash, soot, unburned pellets or any other debris obstructs the flue or the air holes, the stove won't ignite because the combustion chamber lacks the air it needs.
- Fuel Feeding Problems: Another critical component to the stove's igniting and firing is the fuel feeding into the stove. If you use a poor quality grade of pellet fuel or if the pellets are damp, they could fail to ignite.
- Electrical Power Problems: If the electrical components of the pellet stove don't receive a good current, the stove will fail to operate normally.
Solution:
- Clear the chimney flue of animal nests, leaf piles or built-up ash and soot, and remove obstructions from the stove's air holes to see if that solves the problem.
- Open the stove's hopper and fill it with pellets if it's empty. Remove any "clinkers," or glass-like byproducts of pellet burning, from the hopper. Close the hopper and again attempt to use the stove after refilling.
- Check the breaker that controls the circuit that the stove is using and make sure it's not tripped. Also make sure the stove's power cord is plugged in securely.
- The stove might have blown a fuse or its Electrical Components might be damaged, in which case you need to have the stove serviced to restore it to full working order.
Harman Pellet Stove Won’t Turn Off
- Defective Low-limit Switch: Lower limit switch is a white ceramic disk that is mounted to the exhaust fan housing and also has two wires going through it. If this effective switch becomes faulty, ultimately, your stove will fail to power off.
- Malfunctioning of Thermostat: When your pellet stove doesn’t turn off after long trying, it indicates the damage to this thermostat. Either it is broken or the attached wires may worn out.
- Faulty ESP Sensor: ESP sensor of the pellet stove delivers precision heating control. If there is overheat throughout the system, the sensor will not find its required temperature and continue the stove forever.
- Bad Control Board: When the above reasons are ruled out, the probability is that the control board is faulty.
Solutions:
- Locate the lower limit switch of your pellet stove.remove one wire from it and replace this lower limit switch.
- Check thermostat wires, remove wires or jumper of the thermostat. Unscrew the damaged thermostat. Check the wiring. Replace all the worn-out wires from it.
- Turn off the stove by disconnecting any wires.
- Check the air vents. Clean all the clogged debris from it. Let it be cool.
- Inspect the combustion blower and clean it out as well.
- Check the ESP probe. You have to replace it if you find any default here.
- When all the above processes fail, then you need to replace the bad control board.
What do the “Blinks” mean on my Pellet Stove?
1 Blink: Indicates control board self diagnostic failure. This requires a manual reset*.
3 Blinks: Indicates that the ESP (Exhaust Sensing Probe) has failed, has a broken connection, or has gone out of range too many times. This requires a manual reset*.
4 Blinks: Can occur only in Room Temp Mode and indicates Room Sensing Probe failed or not installed. If a Room Sensing Probe is then installed, the status light will automatically reset. The Room Sensing Probe is the thick black wire coming out of the pellet stove/insert. NOTE: Unit will not start in “AUTO” with this status error.
5 Blinks (In Igniter Auto. Mode Only): Indicates that the unit has failed to light after 4 consecutive igniter cycles, 32 minutes total. To reset – Turn Mode Selector to “OFF”, then turn to either mode again.
6 Blinks : Indicates that the control has calculated poor or incomplete combustion occurring for more than 50 minutes. A six blink status may be set if the stove is allowed to run out of pellets. To reset, turn mode selector to “OFF” then back on to the desired mode.
Manual reset-disconnect power cord for a few seconds and reconnect.
Conclusion
The above summarizes the common fault solutions of Harman pellet stove, hope it will help you. We recommend cleaning the pellet stove at least once a week, as dirt can easily damage the pellet stove.
If you encounter any problems, other than those mentioned here, you can also let us know. We will be happy to help you solve it.
